October 2012 Meeting

Colonial Nature Photography Club
October 1, 2012 Meeting

Called to order by Craig Hill a 6:35 PM
26 members and guests present

The October meeting assignment was Fall and the submitted pictures were displayed and discussed.

The upcoming Virginia Wildlife photo contest rules and regulations were presented and discussed.  Previous years results for our club have been amazing and the members are encouraged to submit for the 2013 contest.

Barbara Houston showed pictures from the recent club field trips to Big Meadows and Chincoteague.  Members were again encouraged to participate or lead a group of their own.

Barbara then showed several pictures with different crop methods and an impromptu discussion on cropping and content was had by all.  A good conversation and many good ideas were discussed.

The new club logo designed by member Bob Schammerhorn was displayed and discussed.  It was agreed the logo would be used for hats and be available for the next meeting….hopefully.

The November assignment as suggested by Mike Powell was discussed and accepted.  Please submit pictures based on the upcoming Virginia Wildlife Photo contest.  Categories include:

  • Birds of a Feather
  • Scenic Landscapes
  • Patterns & Textures
  • Furry Critters
  • A Bug’s Life
  • Kids Korner (ages 6 through 16)

Please follow the contest rules and submit three photos or less for each category.  Please be sure to resize your photos correctly and rename so they contain your first name.  Also, note in your submission which category for each picture.

Special guest Dennis Tennant then presented a presentation on Lightroom.  He went into great details on the process and procedures of editing pictures with the software. Please visit his page at: https://www.facebook.com/editordennis.
