August Meeting: Paul McCroskey: Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Join us Monday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road, Williamsburg. Paul McCroskey (friend of member Ken Conger) will do a presentation on Cades Cove in the Smoky National Park.

From Paul:

My program is a Photographers Guide to Cades Cove and some of the nearby areas in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cades Cove is a fantastic place to photograph wildlife, landscapes, wildflowers, and white water streams. There is something there for almost any photographer.

I visit Cades Cove several times a year. Friends are always asking me where to go to see the wildlife that I photograph. I finally decided to gather some of my photos and put together a program about the area.
So the program is not about my photos. I just use my photos as a guide to the area.

I started visiting Cades Cove back in 1986, when my employer sent me to Bristol for 4 years to open a new office. Back then I camped and walked the Cove every chance I could. I got my first camera in 2005 and immediately started going to Cades Cove to photograph the Deer. Since then I have completely given up hunting with a rifle and I now only hunt with a camera.

Hopefully my program will encourage your members to go to Cades Cove and provide a little information about what to expect when they get there.

I can also recommend a few places to stay and eat while there.
